WAYS OF WORKING TOGETHER
WHO WE ARE WAYS OF WORKING TOGETHER STATEMENT OF FAITH GOVERNANCE OUR HISTORY
We aim to be a radically inclusive church, reflecting Christ to each other and the world. So, as a congregation, we aspire to the following “Ways of Working Together”:
As a diverse congregation, we seek to value and respect the diversity of people, beliefs, opinions, and experiences within our congregation, knowing that diversity makes us a better congregation.
We understand that conflict can fester and then escalate quickly, so we aim to handle interpersonal conflict early, with vulnerable honesty, and involve only the people who need to be involved. We try to stay focused on solving the problem and avoid attacking the person. We aim to understand the other’s viewpoint especially when we disagree.
Because privacy and confidentiality are important to us, we are cautious about sharing other people’s personal information (including stories, photos, videos) that might be sensitive. We endeavour to check in with them if in doubt.
We seek to continually grow in personal maturity and self-awareness, taking responsibility for our own behaviour, feelings, and boundaries. We are not afraid to apologise or get help when we need it.
These Ways of Working Together were developed by the congregation with the guidance of MCC Brisbane’s leadership.
Our Ways of Working Together are aspirational goals that we, as a congregation, aim for, even though we know we’ll fall short at times. We also have a Code of Conduct, which outlines the minimum standards of behaviour expected of all MCC attendees for the safety and well-being of all. You can read our Code of Conduct here. If you have any concerns around the conduct of any person/s at MCC, or if you have questions or feedback regarding our Ways Of Working Together or Code of Conduct, please send an email to board@mccbrisbanechurch.org.
