Below are some practical resources and links to organisations for those within the LGBTQIA+ community. These organisations are based in Australia, many local to Brisbane.


Open Doors Youth Service provides youth support services to enrich the lives of young people with diverse genders, sex, sexualities & bodies.

Brisbane Youth Service has been helping since 1977 create new futures for young people who are homeless or vulnerable through housing and support services.

Lifeline is a non-profit organisation that provides free, 24-hour telephone crisis support service in Australia.

Diverse Voices works alongside QLife, which provides Australia-wide anonymous, LGBTQIA+ peer support and referral for people wanting to talk about a range of issues including sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships.

DV Connect helps Queenslanders find pathways to safety, away from domestic, family and sexual violence.

Another Closet offers support for LGBTQIA+ victims of domestic and family violence.

Beyond Blue provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health.

Bravehearts advocates for the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse.

PFLAG is an international LGBTQIA+ and ally peer support group that has been operating in Australia for over 30 years.

The LGBTI Legal Service provides free and confidential legal advice to the LGBTIQA+ community throughout Queensland.
